CONGRESS IN SESSION
THE SENATE AND TED KENNEDY
There is liberal, and then there is just plain nuts. Senator Ted Kennedy fits in the latter category. As unimaginable as it may seem the good Senator single handedly tried to shut down NSEERS.
NSEERS is the acronym for National Security Entry-Exit Registration Program. This State Department program requires that all males from Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen be finger printed before entry into the United States. It also imposes reporting requirements once they are here. So far the program has captured 330 known criminals trying to enter the United States including six terrorists, two from Al Qauda
Late in the evening of January 23rd Senator Kennedy slipped an amendment into an appropriations bill striking out the funds for NSEERS. The next day the massive $390 million bill was passed 69-29. Virtually no Senators voting for the bill knew what Kennedy had done.
In Ted Kennedy's warped mind NSEERS is "unconstitutional" and violates the "rights" of terrorists and illegal aliens. He just does not understand that our Constitution was written for Americans like you and me and not for Osama Bin Laden and his buddies.
The Washington Times reported that Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) had worked with the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) to figure out a way to kill NSEERS. CAIR has a long history of supporting the terrorist group HAMAS.
There was no "anti-NSEERS" language in the House version of the appropriations bill. This means the issue must be resolved in conference committee held jointly by the House and Senate with other disputes over final language. When the conference committee irons out differences the finished bill goes back to the two bodies for final approval.
At a meeting Wednesday a senior White House official told me that under no circumstances would the President sign the appropriations bill without funding for NSEERS. We can thank God that George W. Bush is President, or Ted Kennedy would have gotten away with this.
Not satisfied with assisting terrorists getting into the United States, Senator Kennedy introduced a "clone and kill" bill along with Senators Diane Feinstein (D-CA) and Orrin Hatch (R-UT). The Human Cloning Ban and Stem Cell Research Protection Act of 2003 actually encourages the creation of human life through cloning for the sole purpose of dissecting and killing. Despite its title the bill encourages cloning and has virtually nothing to do with stem cell research. The title of the bill seems to fit more appropriately in the novel Brave New World than in Senate legislation.
Ted Kennedy and his crowd continually demean human life. He and other supporters of the bill refer to human embryos as "dots" and "goldfish." (These "goldfish" become children. The Nightlight Christian Adoption Agency actually saves frozen human embryos that are "extras" at fertilization clinics and are headed for destruction. They are adopted and implanted by infertile couples, some of whom have actually brought their kids to Congress to testify against embryonic destruction.) With this strange "goldfish" view of human life it does not seem odd at all that Kennedy could fashion a bill that would allow the creation of human life through cloning and then require that the life be ended before it is implanted.
What Ted Kennedy proposes is slavery. He proposes that a human being be created for the sole purpose of harvesting parts. The very concept is based on the premise that the cloned individual is "owned." No slave owner in the old South was so cruel a master to his slaves. Kennedy proposes a far worse fate for the cloned.
Those of us who have assurance of eternal life through the shed blood of Jesus Christ should have no fear of death. To us death is a mere transition from this life to one which is better. On the other hand, those who do not know God want to cling to every moment they can on this earth because their fate may be eternal hell. These fearful people are willing to create human life and destroy it in some vain attempt at prolonging their lives or making their lives on earth better.
Christopher Reed has raised millions of dollars to promote cloning and stem cell research to find a cure for his paralysis. He has asked the Congress to spend many millions more to find a cure for him. On the other hand, Joni Earekson Tada, a quadriplegic and founder of the ministry Joni and Friends, supports the total anti-cloning bill presented by Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS). His bill, co-sponsored in the Senate by Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) would ban all cloning in the United States.
What about the Raelians and their claim that they have cloned two babies? The French founder of the Raelians is a fruit cake. His organization was chartered in France as "atheistic." Rael (Claude Vorilhon) claims that he has met the Elohim (an ancient Hebrew word meaning "those who come from the sky") who cloned us all as an experiment. He says Christ is an Elohim and that he has had conversations with him as well. The group holds "meditation" meetings that turn into group sex sessions. Those present report that that many of those who participate in the group orgies are homosexual. Rael (Claude Vorilhon) requires the use of condoms at his "meditation" sessions.
The Raelians founded Cloneaid which made the cloning claim. Do I need to say more? When asked, Rael stated that the claim may be a hoax, but that he had received more than "$200 million in free publicity" which is all he wanted anyway. Rael likes to compare himself to the Pope. I find this odd in that the Pope doesn't talk to aliens or hold group sex meetings.
THE RETREAT and NOMINATIONS
Republican members of Congress went on a retreat Thursday and Friday to discuss strategy and that effectively shut down the House and Senate for the week. Republican Senators will plan their strategy for moving forward with the judicial nominations President George W. Bush has made. Some of those have lingered for two years!
The first part of the week I did manage meetings with various congressional leaders including Senator Inhofe (R-OK). All eyes are on the nomination of Miguel Estrada to the Federal Circuit Court. Senator Ted Kennedy, who seems to be everywhere (Has he been cloned?) is leading the "filibuster" against Estrada. The left refers to Estrada as the "Hispanic Clarence Thomas". The left fears Estrada will eventually be nominated for the Supreme Court and this could highlight the conservative part of the Hispanic community. Because Democrats "own" the Hispanic vote, they want to stop this at all costs. The left's opposition to Estrada has nothing to do with the kind of judge he would make and everything to do with the fact that he is a Hispanic who is conservative. If Estrada were a white man with the same views, Ted Kennedy would not try to block his nomination. Ralph Neas, who heads the ultra liberal People for the American Way, promised there would be "judicial Armageddon" against Estrada and it appears that his tool is Senator Kennedy.
THE MIDDLE EAST
In a few weeks I will leave for the Middle East. Most of my time will be spent there dealing with Christian schools in the areas of the West Bank controlled by Yassar Arafat and his gang of thugs. One Christian student at his "public" school was murdered in front of a teacher in November to teach his family a "lesson." Nothing was done. The Arafat schools promote a culture of death, teaching even little kindergarten kids to become "martyrs."
Several free and very well made videos are available to view on how terror is taught by Yassar Arafat and what the results are. They may be viewed on Windows Media Player at an official Israeli government site. Click here.
To help Palestinian Christian schools and the Christian families caught under the rule of Yassar Arafat and his gang of thugs, please make a contribution this week to the Religious Freedom Coalition. All funds received on the Internet during the next week will be used exclusively for our Middle East projects. If you have not yet purchased a copy of Holy Land Terror now is the time! Produced by the RFC in the Holy Land, the video documentary is just $19.95 including shipping. Order today!
