THE RELIGIOUS FREEDOM COALITION IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE AMERICAN SERVICE COUNCIL WHICH IS ALSO KNOW AS CHRISTIAN VOICE
The American Service Council, AKA Christian Voice, has recently mailed fund raising letters using the name of the Religious Freedom Coalition. These letters refer to the Religious Freedom Coalition as a "project" of the American Service Council, AKA Christian Voice.
As chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition I can assure you that our organization is not in any way associated with the American Service Council, AKA Christian Voice. We did not authorize the use of our identity for any mailing seeking funds or signatures on any "Ten Commandments" petitions issued by the American Service Council, AKA Christian Voice.
The American Service Council letters issued using the name of the Religious Freedom Coalition ask that donations be sent to an address in Frederick, Maryland. The address may be one of several controlled by the promotions firm of Stuart / Grey. That firm specializes in promotional mailings.
If you have received any mailings from an organization claiming to be the Religious Freedom Coalition that has asked you to send funds to any location other than Washington, DC I want to hear from you. Please send the entire promotional mailing asking you to send funds to Maryland to me, William J Murray, at the Religious Freedom Coalition, PO Box 77511, Washington, DC 20013.
If you have sent funds to Frederick, Maryland to what you thought was the Religious Freedom Coalition please send me a photocopy of the front and back of your check. Please make note if the check was actually cashed by American Service Council or some other entity such as a promotional mailing agency.
Genuine mailings from our Religious Freedom Coalition that request participation in petition or fund raising drives will have a reply address of PO Box 77511, Washington, DC 20013 or 717 2nd Street, NW, Washington, DC 20002. We have not used any address other than these for mailings or solicitations for more than ten years. We do not use "caging operations" or promoters for our mailings. Checks sent to us are cashed by us and 100% of your funds are received by us with no promotional fees deducted. We are a 501c3 organization and donations to us are tax deductible.
SPECIAL NOTE: The American Service Council, AKA Christian Voice, is not a 501c3 organization and contributions to them are NOT tax deductible even if the check is made out to the Religious Freedom Coalition and they cash it. On the Christian Voice Internet site the American Service Council states that it is a 501c4 organization. While 501c4 organizaions are "non-profit," contributions to them are not tax deductible. I have been unable to locate any Internet site for the American Service Council
Any further information on mailings using the name Religious Freedom Coalition that do not have a Washington, DC address would be greatly appreciated by me. Please call my office at 202.543.0300.
William J. Murray, Chairman
