THE PRESIDENT
CLIPPING THE TRIAL LAWYERS - President George W. Bush has issued an executive order barring federal agencies from hiring lawyers and expert witnesses on a contingency fee basis. Contingency fee arrangements gave percentages to outside lawyers and consultants. In the cases against big tobacco companies, trial lawyers pocketed tens of millions of dollars. The President's executive order will stop combining government with the personal financial interests of lawyers." Read Executive Order.

AMNESTY IS NOT AMNESTY - This is an actual quote from the White House: "No Amnesty For Illegal Immigrants: Illegal immigrants who come out of the shadows will be given probationary status. Once the border security and enforcement benchmarks are met, they must pass a background check, remain employed, maintain a clean criminal record, pay a $1,000 fine, and receive a counterfeit-proof biometric card to apply for a work visa or "Z visa." Translation: Those who entered the United States illegally wil be allowed to remain and work here. They will pay $1,000 for an ID card and all their past crimes for using false ID and Social Security numbers will be forgiven - but this is not amnesty.

THE HOUSE
DEMS PUSH FOR ABORTION - Rep. Michaud (D- ME) has been pushing for the Department of Defense funding authorization bill to include a mandate that the Morning After Pill (MAP) be stocked and distributed in all military medical facilities. However, there is no mention of his pro-abortion activism at his congressional Internet site.

There is a continuing push by Democrats to force pro-life doctors to perform abortions against their will particularly at military hospitals. Contact your congressman about abortion related items in the DoD authorization.

ABSTINENCE EDUCATION IN PERIL - Next Tuesday, May 22, 2007, is Abstinence Day on the Hill. Many abstinence groups and students who have participated in abstinence programs will be on the Hill to promote abstinence education. Democrat leaders are moving forward to strip Abstinence education funding from Title V. Contact your congressman about continued funding for Abstinence education projects.

THE SENATE
AMNESTY IS LAW ENFORCEMENT -
War Is Peace; Freedom Is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength.
Those are the slogans of Big Brother in George Orwell's 1949 anti-communist science fiction work, 1984. Not to be outdone by Orwell, the Senate working with the Bush Administration has conceived an "Immigration Reform" bill in which millions of law breakers remain in the United States and have all their crimes forgiven and receive a work permit by paying a fee of $1,000. If this is not the stuff of Orwell then we must all live in the Brave New World

PLEASE FORWARD - Please forward this e- mail to your friends! More people than you think do not understand the danger to our society as a result of the actions of the Senate in granting amnesty to millions of lawbreakers.

RELIGION AND CULTURE
REPUBLICAN SPLIT? - The Wall Street Journal uses a great deal of its editorial space to attack social conservatives and those it calls "Neo- cons." From reading their editorials, one would gather that all that is needed to be a Republican is to advocate low taxes, free trade and open borders. What a surprise it was, then, to read a half page article that presents the statistics showing the Republican Party cannot win the White House without social conservatives. ANTI-ILLEGALS MAYOR WINS BOTH PRIMARIES! - Louis J. Barletta, the mayor of Hazleton, Pa. who launched a war on the impact of illegal aliens in his city has won not only the GOP nomination for mayor, which he was seeking, but the Democratic nomination by virtue of 1,200 write-in votes. The mayor pushed through legislation to evict illegal aliens and force employers to stop hiring them. Click here for more.
