THE PRESIDENT

FIRST FREEDOM- The U.S. Department of Justice is holding a seminar in Chicago on Wednesday, September 19, on Federal Laws Protecting Religious Freedom. This is part of a series of regional training seminars that are a key facet of Attorney General Gonzales' new religious liberty initiative, The First Freedom Project. The Religious Freedom Coalition highly recommends attendance. For more information go to www.firstfreedom.g ov.

DISPUTE WITH THE TIMES - The Washington Times has reported that the President has ordered the draw down of National Guard troops from the Mexican border. This week the White House vehemently denied the charge saying that it would increase its efforts on illegal immigration. See House Section

WANT-TO-BE PRESIDENTS AND GAYS - There they were, six of the eight Democratic presidential hopefuls on a gay TV cable channel pandering to homosexuals. Hillary Clinton told them she would be a "...president who will fight for you." The "debate" was held in West Hollywood (where else?) and was sponsored by the gay TV network Logo and the Homosexual lobbying group Human Rights Campaign. After the event Hillary Clinton held a fund raising party at the Abby in West Hollywood which is the largest homosexual night club in the United States. Click here for more.

THE HOUSE
RECESS - The House is in summer recess until September 4, 2007

MUSLIM TERRORISTS WITH HISPANIC NAMES - Congressman Ed Royce (R-CA) has called for formal hearings on the connection between terrorists and drug cartels. He stated, "Hearings I held in Laredo [Texas] last year and this DEA report show that our southern border is a terrorist risk. Law enforcement has warned that people from Arab countries have crossed the border and adopted Hispanic surnames. The drug cartels have highly sophisticated smuggling and money-laundering networks, which terrorists could access." There was no response from the Administration. THE SENATE
RECESS- The Senate is in summer recess until September 4, 2007

RELIGION AND CULTURE
ANOTHER HATEFUL ATHEIST - An atheist couple is suing Texas Gov. Rick Perry and a school district over a state- mandated moment of silence in schools.

David Wallace Croft and his wife, Shannon, of Carrollton, Texas, who have three children in elementary school claim the moment of silence is unconstitutional and is state-sanctioned prayer.

The Crofts have a bitter history of complaints in schools against words and images they say are offensive to them. They have even complained about Boy Scout rallies and the very existence of the Good News Bible Club. They objected to the inclusion of "Silent Night" and a Hanukkah song in school concerts. They even had one of their children refuse to stand for the pledge to the flag. Click here for the long list of hateful complaints this couple has filed.

INTERNATIONAL
EGYPRT ARRESTS CHRISTIAN LEADERS- Just received from Christian Solidarity International: "On August 8, members of Egypt's State Security Investigations (SSI) arrested Christian activists Adel Fawzy Faltas and Peter Ezzat Mounir in Cairo. The arrests are part of Egypt's alarming and growing trend of state-sponsored persecution of Christians.

Although no formal charges have been announced, SSI officials claim the two men insulted Islam, preached Christianity, incited Christian- Muslim confrontation, and maintained an unlawful association with a foreign organization.

Egyptian government officials routinely torture prisoners within the first three days of arrest."
